Art Club
History
Rev Douglas Murray, the Minister of Cambusnethan Old
Parish Church, attended a local art group and discovered he
had a talent for painting and tutoring so he started his first
class, the Thursday Class, in September 1990 in the Church
Hall.  It proved successful so he started a second class, the
Tuesday Class, in Morningside Church Hall in September
1991.  In September 1992 he started the Sunday Class in
Cambusnethan Church Hall.  Rev Douglas Murray left
Cambusnethan Old to preach in Lausanne, Switzerland in
1994.  David Gilchrist [a talented local artist] took over the
reins that same year.  Shortly before the closure of
Morningside Church the Tuesday Class moved to Bonkle
Parish Church.  Unfortunately, due to work commitments,
David had to give up the Tuesday class a few years ago.
However he continued to teach the Thursday and Sunday
classes until May 2007.

Sep.07 to Feb.08
Local Bothwell artist Muriel Andrew became our tutor but
unfortunately had to give it up due to ill health
and we
wish her good luck and good health in the future.

March 08 A.G.M.
Due to lack of numbers the decision was taken to down size
to just one class per week. A vote was taken with the
majority voting for the Sunday class to remain and the
Thursday class to close as of March 2008.

Since Muriel left
, the club continued without a tutor until
April when the President Margaret Calder found a new
tutor...Thomas Carrigan who is a young Art teacher in one
of our local High Schools.
